Technical Details

TeamQuest products use shared components that manage all performance data and provide for centralized administration of performance data collection and management. Product integration through these shared components simplifies IT service performance analysis for large IT operations. The resulting efficiencies are viewed as a strategic business advantage by many TeamQuest customers.

The shared components consist primarily of TeamQuest Manager and TeamQuest Administration Server, which is technically a part of TeamQuest Manager. The following products include TeamQuest Manager and, therefore, also include TeamQuest Administration Server:

• TeamQuest IT Service Analyzer
• TeamQuest IT Service Reporter
• TeamQuest Alert

(Most customers who use TeamQuest Model also use one or all of the other products and, therefore, also have TeamQuest Manager and TeamQuest Administration Server.)

In addition to TeamQuest Manager and TeamQuest Administration Server, TeamQuest IT Service Analyzer includes TeamQuest View, and TeamQuest IT Service Reporter includes TeamQuest On the Web.

TeamQuest Manager

Each product in the suite accesses data from a shared component called TeamQuest Manager. TeamQuest Manager is typically installed on each system you want to manage. TeamQuest Manager includes these services:

• Data collection agents
• Data storage
• Statistical analysis
• Thresholds and alarms
• Workloads

TeamQuest Administration Server

TeamQuest Administration Server simplifies the management of TeamQuest software, making it especially useful for large-scale installations. It lets you use configuration and administration policies spanning many systems. You can access all managed systems through one interface and store all users, passwords, and access rights for easy administration.

Using TeamQuest Administration Server you can create a hierarchy of managed servers (Unix, Linux, Windows, i5/OS, z/OS) and associate TeamQuest policies with appropriate servers or groups of servers at one time. You can change a policy on one system in your enterprise and automatically apply the change to other systems.
