IT consultant Jon Hill explains why management is looking for IT to focus on automation that directly benefits key business processes.
 
Once key business processes have been identified, it is crucial to measure IT services that support those processes, and to set service level requirements that are consistent with overall priorities.
 
After a measurement program is in place that expresses performance in terms of business priorities, it is then possible to plan for the future. Using capacity planning tools you can determine how best to prepare for forecasted increases or shifts in business activity and how to optimize operations to support new or modified business processes.
