Packed House gets Inside Information at TTS

TeamQuest CEO Jerred Ruble opened an information-packed two-day summit April 23 in Palm Springs, California. Attendees caught a glimpse of the future from TeamQuest and Forrester analyst Evelyn Hubbert.

Hubbert Highlights
Hubbert noted that service delivery is the next IT battleground and that "competition is no longer a matter of technology but a matter of service availability and performance. IT operations now must enable enterprise business functions, not just keep the lights on."

She urged IT to become more involved in the decision-making process and to gain a seat at the top executive levels in order to accomplish this. The wrong way to proceed, however, was to throw people at the problems of runaway technology growth. The road ahead, she counseled, was via Business Service Management (BSM), of which TeamQuest’s IT Service Optimization is a subset.

Release 10.1 Highlights
Release 10 received rave reviews, offering a new technology foundation for the TeamQuest Performance Software suite. The new release is based upon a powerful Java-based thin client architecture.

Ruble highlighted the benefits of the federated Capacity Management Database (CDB) within 10.1, stating that it enables capacity managers to compile and analyze data regardless of where it is stored.

"Even if it is dispersed among 15 separate systems, TeamQuest automatically consolidates it into one virtual CDB," said Ruble.

In addition to the CDB capabilities, Ruble touted the ability to drill down from a specific business service into the underlying components in order to detect the reasons for bottlenecks or latency. In addition, a rich Web-based user interface provides easy access and desktop-quality capabilities, such as drag-and-drop.
