IBM Taps TeamQuest® Corporation for Chiphopper RolloutTeamQuest Technology Reach Broadens as Customers Select LinuxClear Lake, Iowa, February 24, 2005 - TeamQuest Corporation, a global leader in performance management and capacity planning software today announced it is one of the first independent software vendors (ISV) supporting IBM's new IBM eServer Application Advantage for Linux (Chiphopper) offering. Chiphopper tools and services make it easy for ISVs to support their Linux applications across the entire IBM eServer product line. As Linux servers continue to gain market share, IBM's offering will help to ensure that key applications, such as those from TeamQuest, are available on a variety of hardware platforms and Linux distributions. During the past year, TeamQuest has worked closely with IBM as one of the pilot ISV's in the Chiphopper program as it was being developed. TeamQuest was also one of five vendors invited to help IBM launch the offering at LinuxWorld in Boston. "We are excited to see IBM taking a leading role in ensuring cross-platform and cross-distribution compatibility for Linux," said Jerred Ruble, President and CEO of TeamQuest. "The Chiphopper program enables TeamQuest to efficiently port and test multiple distributions of Linux across multiple platforms." The servers included in the program range from IBM's entry-level x86-based IBM eServer xSeries, to iSeries, pSeries, blades and clusters, IBM Power processor-based servers and mainframes. Chiphopper includes free porting assistance and software dubbed "Hopscotch" that examines code for possible portability problems, alerts developers to potential issues and provides guidance for fixes. Once an application has been checked and accepted into the program, IBM will assist ISVs in supporting their applications across IBM hardware platforms. By offering the no-charge services in combination with access to IBM customers currently running on Power servers and mainframes, IBM has a goal to double the 6,000 applications currently available on its Linux servers to more than 12,000 by 2007. "The industry is clearly embracing Linux and IBM's Chiphopper offering provides us with cross-platform flexibility enabling us to deliver cost-effective, scalable solutions to our customers," added Ruble. "It allows us to focus our resources on developing performance management and capacity planning solutions for our customers."
