Product Release: New Surveyor Views

TeamQuest has recently added new, impressive features to our Surveyor product to make data visualization a whole lot easier.

Your business’s operating system abounds with data, and buried in that information are valuable insights about your company, competitors, and consumers. But if you can’t make sense of the info, all that data — and all the resources spent collecting it — are rendered utterly useless.

That’s why we’re expanding the capabilities of TeamQuest’s Surveyor Views — to make your data as consumable, and therefore meaningful, as possible. The new views for Surveyor is both more interactive and simpler than ever before. Its features allow you to engage with your data and shape it to give you the insights you need. And the interface is clean and straightforward — colorful charts and flashy graphics may be fun to look at, but they don’t help communicate information.

Rather than being at the mercy of an ineffective visualization system, you can finally make your data work for you.

    Zooming in

Surveyor’s new Zoom-In capability lets you do more analysis with less data. When working with time series data, for instance, you may not always need the information across the entire timeline — you’d often prefer a simplified viewing experience. The solution? Surveyor now allows you to zoom in on particular days or periods, letting you observe values within a certain range, rather than overwhelming you with more data than you need for your specific inquiry.

Once you’ve gotten the info you need, you can zoom out and have all of the data at your disposal once again. This kind of interactivity prevents you from having to draw up whole new graphs just to get a closer perspective, keeping your capacity planning dashboard clean and uncluttered.

We’ve also added a hover feature to Surveyor Views, which helps in extracting information from a graph or chart. In a line graph, for instance, you can visualize broad trends, but it’s nearly impossible to find specific values, especially when dealing with large amounts of data. If you want to know the exact amount of revenue generated in 2010, you’ll have to make do with whatever you imagine the intersection between the x and y axes to be.

Thankfully, the hover feature is here to help. It allows you to pick any point on a graph, and then provides you with the exact values you’re looking for. No more tedious sifting through numbers when your visual isn’t giving you the answers you need. The new Surveyor integrates complex information into simple visuals, giving you the most streamlined, easy data-viewing experience.

    Visuals In Vogue

TeamQuest’s updated Surveyor Views are part of a larger movement to make data more accessible. As explained by visualization consultant Stephen Few, “We are overwhelmed by information, not because there is too much, but because we don’t know how to tame it.” Few, like TeamQuest, is a proponent of visual simplicity for the sake of clarity.

Get onboard with the digital trend, and open your eyes to the new Surveyor Views. Start getting more use out of all that data you have, and you’ll be amazed what your company can achieve.
